This is the second bird band that I have found in town with a bone still in it. The wheat back is 1912 or 20 (second from left), it still needs cleaning, which I tend to do over the winter. I love marbles and always watch out for them. This is a strange one. Full of bubbles and what appears to be dirt glob inclusions. Not particularly old but strange enough to be a keeper. I have a habit of guzzling a LOT of ice tea while detecting and I burn off my clad with it. A symbiotic arrangement that works for me.

Lots of items in that hunt. Knee bends galore.

Good assortment of digs!! I must say, you have to be the first one I've ever heard of with a bird band find complete with leg!! Thanx for posting!!

Whew, thats a pile of digging. I, too, have found a couple of bird bands, but never with some of the bird still attached. First I've heard of it, as well. HH jim tn

That's a nice variety of finds, big and small, interesting and weird! Great work!:clapping:

Nice finds, but that bird band with the bone is kinda creepy. :detecting:

It sure is. The local wildlife club releases Pheasants. But I don't see the bone as being large enough for that, or even a duck. Dunno. The first one was beside a turn of the century house under a bush clump. I found an old hammer head under there. I tossed the hammer and now regret it a little, as it was old. 98% of what I post up is what I call crapulance. Interesting to me in its own right but not really worth keeping. The half of a cigarette case in the above group pic has interesting designs on it, but its still basically junk. I find myself quite fascinated by old junk as it was so much more orate and classier than the stamped out consumer garbage that we see every day now. Basically I pick out coins, tokens, marbles and rifle\shot shell cases that are interesting. The rest goes straight to the garbage.

The ring with the herring bone design is a strange one. It is marked 94M copper or somesuch. It has that lovely copper\brass patina of being in the soil for a while. It may just be something from Avon. The AT has been finding rings for me but only 2-3 have been silver. I still get that little adrenalin surge even from a junker, so its still fun. I never know until its in my hand, which is so much fun. :detecting:

:detecting: I try to get time in because we have such a long winter up here. I tend to get a little nuttier than ususal  around spring just before the season starts, and the cabin fever becomes intense. It was like tossing gas on a flame when my AT came in about a month before spring. Then we had an unusually long winter. Yowzers !

Hey thanks, I didn't think of a pigeon ! I'm a certified genius for not seeing the obvious or getting something on the second or third go around.
