I have a small plastic bucket of earth which is about 5.5 to 6 inches deep with earth- it is packed firm. The T2 gave an i.d of 45 one way and about 25 in the other direction on a gold ring, this was with 0 discrim, tone 2+ and sens at 80, i was getting a bit of chatter but thats expected in 0 discrim.
What I did find surprising was that i could still get a signal in air a good 4 to 5 inches above the bucket but got an i.d of 45 both ways - I beleive I read that it gives a better i.d if the target is in the 8 to 10 inch range.
I will now do this next time I am actually out on a dig to see the results there, If the disc is increased above 0 it did lose the depth / signal.
The chatter will be easy enough to live with provided you have earphones that cut out a lot of external noise as you can turn the phone volume down to a point where you can still hear the signal okay.
