More Info on the Harbor Freight Pinpointer

Want to pass some info along to you.
Someone, I don't remember who, suggested I replace the battery that comes with the
pinpointer with a new one like Duracell OR Energizer because the battery that comes with the pinpointer
is a cheapo. This was good advise.

If you bought this pinpointer get a GOOD battery like the Duracell or Energizer. Don't put in any of the cheap Raovac
or junk batteries you get at the Dollar store.

I have a small hand held stun gun I take with me if I have any problems with strays on the trail. I put a
cheap battery in and it wouldn't respond. I put a Duracell in it and it sent shock waves thought the house. (Just kidding) The
point is the cheap 9 volts you get are good for only some electrical devices and not others. They just don't have the power.

I put a duracell in the pinpointer and could see the difference in air test immediately. Not a GREAT difference considering how small the coil is anyway but enough to get better use from the pinpointer.

Happy Hunting.

i have had luck with the pinpointer so far. there are times when it frustrates me though but such is life.

RR,
The White's Bullseye(I have the older models) has a pot on the circuit board that can be tweeked by adjusting the screw. If you are electronic savvy, check to see if the HF model has one that can be adjusted. This could maybe help even more.

If anyone tries this with their pin pointer,do it at your own risk and remember, messing with the electronics will null the warranty.
