More Habitat Silver!

You can see the yellow scaffolding and piles of dirt from a few weeks ago when I last hit this place?.[attachment 297875 habitat.jpg]

Today I swung by right before sunup on my way to work the water and noticed the scaffold was gone and the dirt piles were smoothed out some more...not a complete rake out, but worth a hit!...Fired up 'Ol Betsy and waded in! Hit a 37 merc where the scaffolds were, hit 2 wheats where the dirt piles were...also hit this National Silver Co. silver spoon that looks like it went through a fire in the dirt piles.. Took 10 minutes tops, then I stopped at that totter I just swept the other day on account of I noticed 3 empty cans in the parking lot...figured 30 cents is worth a stop and a look, well, there was another dozen in the trash barrel plus a Full one![attachment 297876 habitat1.jpg]

I thought, I'm gonna take a break from hunting in the Big Lake and do some more ransacking with the 70 today...so I headed over to a school (Sports field gates wide open!) hit a spot along the fence, racked up all this clad and called it a good day at 10:15am...[attachment 297877 habitat2.jpg]

This little Habitat yard gave up my first silver Half, (Walker) my first 1800 silver, (Barber Dime) a couple of indian heads, a couple of wheats, and the spoon and merc...F70 set up in totlot mode with a 53 sens...a joy to be in the dirt and not walking and wading miles of empty sand today...so I had fun...hope y'all got out and found something!.

Since you been hitting silver lately. Are you getting hooked on that aspect of detecting.... I know I am. I hardly ever hunt tot lots or places that have no silver potential..

I like it all!.... beach/water is at the bottom of my list though, and this has been an exceptionally poor year...In fact, my worse gold year in the last 5 so far...sure, it has its moments, but those are few and far between.....I'm needing a big storm to wash some overburden off and uncover some old gold. I'm only at 8gr for the year thus far, but Sept/Oct have always been good to me in that department...I'd rather hunt clad/jewelry than just about anything...immediate reward and easy...theres some skills to old silver I have yet to master, I just get lucky now and then...totlotting teaches a guy a lot about unwinding spills, and working tight to structure, and Humans preferences/travel patterns...so it has really helped me recognize a spill in the dirt, and working tight to fences/ rebar sidewalks...

On another note, I think that spoon is plated...its not turning out or smelling right in the electrolysis...I'll file into it to see..its not flaking, but it just dont look right after I gave it a soak...oh well..

Hey Mud, if you ever decide to switch your focus on relic hunting please stay in your neck of the woods. Or at least switch to another detector. Now, since I've got your attention. A couple of years ago I was hunting an old home site way back in the woods and found these goodies. The fork is stamped Oneida par plate which from one I can find is silver plated around circa 1915. The coins of course speak for themselves. But the broach I just don't know. Is it silver or pewter, whatcha think. If you think it's silver I'll send you a nice cold Coors. If you say it's pewter, I'll send you another hot Budweiser. (shipping and handling not included).

WOW! TMT! Great hunt there! :clapping: you dont have anything to worry about! I dont know about the broach, but either way I'm a winner and have in the past sampled both of the find products you mention. i'm gonna say silver though, just on account I prefer a cold one, though I will drink a hot budweiser if its all thats available...!:beers:
