More from the Plantation

I had to work in VA for a couple of days, and I managed to get off early yesterday....but I didn't go straight home ;) Dad and I went back to the plantation looking for some more of that Spanish silver. The word for the day was buttons. Dad started off the afternoon with this BIG flower button. He thought it was a large cent when he first saw it.

I got this nice flat button with a really good backmark

I just knew this was going to be a confederate button  Not this time! The front is plain.

Here's another shot of some of the buttons....

It was a BEAUTIFUL day. I bet we saw 30 deer. This place is 900 acres, so we will be hunting this place for a while! Here is a picture of some of the remaining slave quarters. I would love to get a sifter and get under those floors!

That's enough info for now....don't want anyone jumping our claim up there!

you have a lifelong project going there.

& that first big button was GW sized & same era.....those are the "bootins" you are lookin' for. That size always makes my heart skip a beat ;)
That slave cabin is cool! How about sneakin' in a crow bar one day & pullin up one a them boards just to take a look? You can always nail it back down ;)
