more finds with the vaquero

Went back to the lake yesterday and hit a couple of campgrounds. Found a silver rosie, 2 wheats, a tootsie toy car, and several clad coins. I understand the tootsie toys are collectible but don't know anything about them. If I had been using my Garrett gti 1500 I probably would not have dug it because it would show up larger than a coin. Oh yeah, I forgot the two military buttons. Had my heart racing for a minute when I saw gold shining in the hole, than I realized it was a button not a ring. Overall a fun day.

You found some nice Great Seal buttons, they are in very good shape with so much gilt left on them. Most of the ones I have found were so corroded and rotten that I just tossed them.

nice silver , your soil is gentile on the pennys to , lets hope you find a rare one

Nice going! :cheers:You're wearing it out finding good targets. You forgot to mention which detector you were using and the settings.:)

Tabman, I was using my vaquero, running the sensitivity at 10, discrimination set to knock out pull tabs, and threshold just past the o on Tesoro. I tried running on the nickel setting occasionally but just to many pull tabs in this area. I'll dig them when I'm on the beach but lose interest in a park. I know I miss gold but my back can handle only so much.

If you set the discrimination where the audio just breaks on pull tabs and dig all clear signals you'll have a shot at finding larger gold rings without having to dig pull tabs.

I have dug a broken audio signal that sounded too good to be a pull tab that turned out to be a gold ring. It sounded too full and mellow, even though it was a broken signal.

A lot of your larger man's gold wedding bands discriminate out just above pull tabs.

Thanks for the advice Tabman, I'll give it a try.
