Its been raining hard the past few weeks and this is how some of the excavation pits look like. At times, we had to wait for the crew to pump out all the water... [attachment 67692 excav1.jpg]

Here is a museum sample of a Krag and a pic of an artillery shell taken out of the pit [attachment 67694 Rifle.jpg] [attachment 67693 artilleryshell.jpg]

Up to this time most of the detecting were on dirt piles that have been brought up. As this is a rescue dig, they allowed me to get into the pit. The first good dig find is an Isabela 2 copper coin. The faint silhouette of the head and neck is still visible. [attachment 67695 Isabela.gif]

followed by a small gold plated leaf a few feet away. Still clueless as to what it is for... [attachment 67696 leaf.jpg]

Here is a rifle bayonet with a couple more you can see in the background. [attachment 67699 Bayonet.gif]

More pics in the next post...

as there's lots of trash and small iron. The other detector I use is an XT70 w/ the elliptical coil. I have found stuff with both machines but I can detect & pinpoint faster with the Vaq.

I have found only one COB but that was not at this Old Manila site. So far just one small Filipinas silver dime but quite a few spanish coin finds. The spanish coins found were all hammered thin coins and very few will still show the manila seal and spanish shields.

Here is the other side of my COB. [attachment 67865 cobB.jpg]

I've found quite a few USA Filipinas silver but just one other silver spanish coin...[attachment 67867 AlfonsoXII1882Silver.JPG][attachment 67868 AlfonsoXII1882Silverback.JPG]
