More field Indians

Phil

New member
Found the 1865 IH in a bean field with the 6x10 coil and the 1859 "fattie" in the cornfield behind my house using the 4x6 coil. The homesite in the beanfield was so trashy, I'm going back tomorrow and use the 4x6 and see if any coins were being masked by iron or other homesite trash.

Great finds, I sure like the old home sites myself. I have a few I need to get back too. Thanks for sharing Phil.:clapping:

I love it, I love it, I love it! As soon as I saw the brownish Indian, I knew it was an 1859 "fatty". So cool! I've found 2 of them this year in the same yard. Did your MXT jump all over while it was in the ground? After mine was out, it rang up a solid 30 on the VDI. Can't wait to hear more about your "backyard" finds! Need any help? :please: HH to you and to all, Nancy

Nice finds Phil. Nancy where was it jumpy around on your MXT? Rob

It was higher than a nickel and lower than a later IH. I've noticed with the MXT and the F70 I use in field hunting that the VDI numbers jump around more than when hunting a yard or park. The confidence bar is also rarely full height. I hunt in relic mode in the fields and pretty much dig anything not iron. Next time I hunt that field I'm driving down to the next crossroads to get there. It's not any closer but I won't have to walk across the corn rows to get to the site. A half mile round trip of hi-stepping across corn stalks was too hard on this old man. I walk a lot but it still wore me out.LOL I'm going to the bean field today.

hit lower in the VDI range. I saw Nancy said her VDI read 30 on a "fattie". I just air-tested a couple with my MXT and the VDI read 32. I'm not sure what it read in the ground as I dig all high tones when I field hunt.

Every time I've found an Indian cent it's jumped from 30's - 50's and every once in a while it will jump up in the lower 70's. When this happens, I always hope for that Indian Princess! Now the "fatty" was different...it jumped around the 30's and a bit up in the 40's before I dug it. Both time in fact. Out of the ground it was a solid 30. Hope that helps. HH to all, Nancy
