MORE EXCITING ADVENTURES OF THE "D"!!!!

FINALLY!!!!!!! A decent day! I'm not going to lie...I haven't had any luck at all! I have been hunting quite a bit,, Ill be out there for like 5 hours,, maybe find a wheat penny,, or a Rosy! Actually it has been REALLY discouraging.... I have to finds some other areas to hunt near my house before I go crazy!!!!! Well today started to be another one of those day's .... Very slow... I got up this morning and headed over to an area in Ohio that I haven't hunted before.. Oh I forgot... The weather was CRAP today... Rain off and on,, and always a drizzle! This little town about 35 minutes away holds a park, ans a school built in 1893... I headed out to the park at first... I hunted through the park for about an hour digging nothing but quarter's, Nickel's, as well as a few dimes and penny's.. I'm not much of a clad hunter,,, But I wont pass up a quarter or a nickel... The park I only got one deep signal in the whole park and it ended up being a bent up piece of copper wire,,,, I hate those!!! I left the park and quickly headed out to the school.. The school was kinda up on a hill with two baseball diamonds below it to the east.. I started there first... I staying low and slow,,, from experience, a lot of the old coins I have pulled from ball fields, have been deepies! I started griding a long the base line.. I was surprised on how quiet the ground was,,, very little trash,,, I started finding quarters on top of the ground and just below it! I got to about second base and got a solid nickel signal,, Over halfway on the depth gage,, I opened up the hole and pulled a buffalo at 8 inches... Very soon after that I got another deep nickel hit.. This one sounded good like a nickel.. But it was a little jumpy... moving more to the left side of the screen! I opened up the hole and around the same depth pulled another Buffalo.. I rechecked the hole,, when I did,, The detector went silent,, Iron with it! I spent about another 2 hours in the field,. Digging more clad quarter, nickel's and dime's... I never even found a wheat penny.. Sounds to me as if some one has cleaned a lot of it out!! I decided to leave and head over to this old fair grounds 15 miles away, that started in 1850,,, Ive pulled merc's and Indian's there in the past.. One of my buddies gets mad every time I go there... He went there one time and got ran off... told him there was no detecting allowed,, I have been there around 10 times and no one has said a word to me... So I figure it's fair game till someone tells me no! I was going to start searching in this open area that I usually go every time I go there... For some reason I changed my mind.. There are old building all around.. But there are at least 3 that are really old... Have the old stone foundation.. I parked my jeep and fired the detector up.. There was tons of iron in the ground! I had to creep! And there was times when my detector would be silent during a whole sweep! I came across the front of one of the building and got a solid deep hit.. I put the knife in the ground and hit gravel,, After digging through 4 inches of gravel I uncovered a aluminum disk

Darrell, whats that word you use... um, oh ya you suck! LOL. Great hunt keep um coming. Id rather hunt deepies too, but clad does pay for the equipment at the end of the year. Sometimes those old schools arent what you might think. Its like hunting old cellar holes. Kids didnt take much money to school... but the other finds are interesting and if you do find something its a keeper. Work those areas that may have had some fill sometimes stuff is brought in that has a lot of older coins in it. HH

Thanks Crow-Duck!!
Yeah it isn't fun either!!!!!!!!!! I don't have to find silver every time i go... I just enjoy being out! But if i go 6-8 times hunt for 5-6 hours and get nothing but a wheat penny... I'm getting a little frustrated :rage: lol
Keep them goodies popping out of the ground., I look forward to seeing them!!!

Thanks NEAL..
I should have stayed longer,,,, I didn't do the best of job working the area,, Like i said there was soo much iron in the ground.. I would go one way dig three targets,,, Come back the other way and find 4 more that i didn't get!,,, Plus i was getting wet,, and my detector and i both looked like we took a mud bath!!!! lol Keep finding those goodies as well neal! i look forward to them!!!

Thanks Ron!!!!!!! Keep popping those coins out of the ground as well

HAHA Thanks DEW

That is why i cant pass up a quarter,,, They are what pay!! Nickels... I dig the crap out of them for hope of a gold ring!! Your right,, Usually the old ball field by the school dont have many real oldies... But i did tap into one a couple months ago and we were finding Indian's and a possible two piece! Keep finding those goodies dew!!! I wanna see more pics from you!!! take care!!
