More CoRe finds, again.....

JFlynn

New member
An old house lot that has been torn down for a while. Today I hunted the imaginary now, sidewalk entrance off the street. All that's there is the two corner markers left today. An area not bigger than a small truck. I've hunted there several times when I first got the CoRe from Keith. However I was hunting in DI2. DI3 is what I prefer now. Now the factor that tickles me to death. We have 5 or 6 of us probably around 400 man hours on this half acre lot. The area I hunted today has had a bunch of machines run over it many times. I've been hunting at 50 sensitivity just about all of my right at 50 hrs on the machine. I ran it up to 80 today and was surprised again at what I found and what I found it in and around with the small coil. This area, the sidewalk entrance has had the Deus with 9" coil, CTX with small coil, T2 with small coil, 705 with small coil, several Whites machines, a few Tesoros, don't keep up with them, G2 with small coil, and a couple others detect over it. This is trash heaven. Canslaw, screw on bottle caps, lot's of nails, more iron than imaginable. Trashier than any park I've ever been in by a long shot. I've slowed my sweep speed down to almost a ML crawl, not quite that slow and the CoRe is nailing the higher conductors. I'm tickled to say the least. I'm not gonna say how some of the dimes were positioned in the layer of bricks that was the driveway some 4-5 inches down. Use your imagination.......... Check out that silver earring..........Detector this "just" might be that trashy park machine.

Hey Jack,

It is kind of nuts how well the FORS works with the small coil especially. I have to tell you, I want to hate the machine because it is not what I prefer as far as a physical design. So I have been trying to make it not work for me, and the fact is I can't. No matter what machine I pair it up with when I get out in the field doing side by side comparisons the FORS just runs better and hits the targets cleaner than the other machines.

DI2 and DI3 are totally different beasts. A lot more going on there than just two tone versus three tone. Totally different in all regards really. I still lean DI2 since I am more a foil digger but when I am in the mood for coins DI3 all the way.

Hi JFlynn,

Looks like the FORS is doing the job. Can't wait to get one in my hands. I hope that within this month or maybe next I will have one on the way. Really really want to hit some ghost towns and use that small coil.

It's Jack btw, I've had a lot of machines over the years and haven't had one like this one. You will be impressed once you realize what it can do.

Hi Jack, some nice finds ya have lately and from everything I have seen and read, it looks to be a great machine. However, I don't agree with Steve about the physical package that the FORS CoRe comes in. At least if I don't know what the hell I am doing, if I have that machine in my hands I'll at least look professional ;)

It looks fine. I just don't like having to twist the control box sideways to get at the functions. I do not like the pinpoint trigger always being under my finder either. Like I am gripping the rod with three fingers. If the Racer does as were as the FORS the Racer will be my med and small coil machine and FORS will be the big coil unit since it balances better with the big coil due to rear mount control box.

Yeah, I am very picky on ergonomics. A pound lighter will not hurt either.

Ya I look at the pics and wondered what it will be like having the main display on the side............but something I never thought of and a great point you bring out is the pinpoint trigger. I never thought about gripping the handle and if a finger would be on the pinpoint trigger all the time. That would be a nuance if you have to either lower your grip to avoid the trigger or leave your index finger sticking straight out all the time.
In truth I am kinda undecided which machine to give a shot, the CoRe or the Racer. Well I got plenty time to decide.

You don't ever have to look at the side display, just the top of the handle. I mean the machine is so simple you cannot fool with much on the adjustment side. Nokta just hit it right, it plain works. Like a Ronco Rotisserie, set it and forget it. Ground Balance every now and then.

What if somebody else makes a decision sooner than you and hunts the same places before you get a CoRe or Racer? They will be thinning out the better stuff.

Just get ready. Once you get an idea of what the CoRe offers and how it 'feels,' you can pull the trigger then (if your finger is already on it  ), or know that the Racer will be the model that will have more trigger-finger comfort and you can buy one as soon as they are released.

Of course while they do look pretty sharp, they don't have that 'professional' look like the CoRe.

Time to start thinning out some of your excess detectors and make room for a new Nokta or Makro model in your arsenal!! The current snow, ice, and cold temperatures will soon ease up and it will be back to the old town sites and stage stops and other iron littered places.

Monte

Yea Monte I'm kind of glad winter is on us right now...rain and soon to be freezing temps gives one plenty of time to figure things out. Would also like to see a report or two from Steve or some of the others before jumping on the Racer.

yep the packaging is all wrong with controls down by you leg ,maybe thats why they changed to the racer.... .lunchbox machines are old hat from the early days

Not a problem at all with the controls down by your side. I haven't never seen as good a build on any detector as the CoRe. Most manufacturers are giving ya thin plastic, junk carbon fiber, thin plastic coils, you can really appreciate the build of the Noktas once you handle one.

whats the weight like ??

3.9 lbs w/ batteries.
Very well balanced, and you can loosen the bolts that hold the box on, and slide it towards the front or back, for best balance.

n/t

You would be surprised how many machines come out with an incorrect weight in the brochures in the first go round. Not just Nokta by a long shot.

Steve I had the Core early on. Being left handed I to found it awkward. The Racer will remedy the design. Looking forward to it's release.

Ya sometimes its hard to believe what they have printed as actual weight. Take Kellyco for example. They have the White's M6 listed as 8lbs. Really !!! I emailed them almost a month ago and stated that the M6 weight is wrong in your specs................but they never bothered to change it. With stock coil its 4lbs + or - a few ounces. But their web site is good to look at to see what machines look like and then shop else wheres.

Maybe someday they will put the correct weight.

Hi George,

Was out using the F75 and FORS yesterday comparing found targets. I am liking the FORS performance but each time I set it down and grabbed the F75 it was night and day. The F75 just feels great on my arm, the FORS does not by comparison. I do not like the hand grip. But the FORS keeps pulling targets better than the F75 in my ground so far. Looks like I really need a Racer.
