More cordless Headphones

Ok, here we go. I rushed out to RShack and purchased a pair of Rivermarine1's cordless headphones. Now remember, not long ago, I reported on this forum my purchase of the Locitech cordless versions, and that they were tail gunning pretty badly. I was very unhappy with how they operated also. So here's my report by comparison. The RS phones still tailgun. However, at about 3 seconds per sweep of the Logitec, the target would be clear out of coil, the RS is much faster, maybe just off center. On a slow sweep you don't hardly notice........BIG IMPROVEMENT! The switches are better. You don't have wait 'till they "lock". Now, there are a minus I found. They don't provide a load for the detector audio. That means if your detector has voltage divider control for audio out, these phones will work fine. If however you detector uses a series, variable resistor for a audio out control (mine did, which is fine if you have a load like a speaker or normal headphones) these phones see humongous audio and shut down. I found no matter where I sit the detector volume control, the first note as I detected would be loud and distorted then all notes thereafter would be almost hard to hear. Going into my detector and changing the audio control to a divider stopped the problem. These units have super gain. I plugged 'em into my stereo amp and had to turn the stereo volume almost completely off to avoid distortion.
I also found as I was detecting in the backyard, I would sometimes hear "crud" in the phones. Was it from the high voltage lines or RF coming from somewhere, I don't know. But even so, unless you are using them underneath a 220 kv line or next to "Mighty 1090" I believe they are a much improvement for my use, and I thank Rivermarine1, for telling us about them. They will replace the Logitech's in my detecting case.
