Gregg,

This is great. I wish you well. Why don't you share your experience on the vdi #s and how deep you are finding coins. Do you dig all signals or just vdi numbers you like and what are they.

Well I hate to admit it but I swing slow, recover quickly and move on. If i do not recover within 30 seconds it better be a minute!

As far as the vdi numbers here is what I found...some may not agree on the vdi numbers!

First of all the pennies I have been recovering start around 57 and go as high as 78-79.

Here is where I expect some disagreement>>>>The nickel....I was told the nickel was always a dead on 19, or 20!

Well I found out this is simply not true! If my nickels are 3.0 or less it seems a steady 19 with a strong signal is the way to go. But I found for over 5.0 in wood chips I have been getting signals from 16 to 24!

Now that I have widened my range for nickels my nickel finds have jumped a ton! What I like to do is pass the coil over like an "X". Usually if it is bouncing over 24, when I dig it is not a nickel, usually a pull tab.

A lot of people with different detectors have told me they are having trouble with bottle tops. What I find is with the vdi sometimes my bottle tops hide in the high 50's right at the beginning of the penny range.

I have only found one gold ring this year it came up exactly >>24.

I have found 6 other rings >>silver...they have all came in like a dime right at 80.

I also have found a few silver pendants and do not remember exact vdi's think they were 80-83.

The two sac dollars I found came in at 83 just like quarters.

As far as depth goes I started with the stock coil and did not use it long..I had a hit at 9.5 but it was a nightmare for me...I hunt trash infested areas and the masking was horrible. I choose the Eclipse 5.3 to replace it. I have lost depth but have had hits at 7.5 I often hit dimes no problem at 6.0

I tried digging all signals at first but decided once I got the 5.3 and seeing my numbers dramatically increase to dig +0 to 13, seems I get a lot of foil at 14...but I will dig once in a while..then +16 to 24...and hate to say i skip a lot but unless signal is repeatable from all angles....+57 to +94

Hope this was the info you were looking for me to share! have not been out since Thursday getting ready to pass $200 and 3000 coins this week!:detecting:
