More 10 x 12" SEF finds while looking for deep silver.

From a 50's era school yard built on top of farm land. I found the 1837 large cent on the edge if the property over a week ago so Saturday I went back for about 3 hours. I'm pulling memorial cents and clad from a 8" (I actually carry a small ruler on my beat up comb

) I'm a little OC about collecting data so I can recall details about a site. I'm not obsessed with how deep but rather at what average depth are the keepers from a site coming from.
I'm getting away from myself here...these two items made my day...but no silver coins yet from there. But I'm happy with 25.2 pennyweight of .925 that's 23.31 net.
A child's .925 Gorham fork & a suspicious looking steering hunk of spoon.

Nice deep silver coin hits on both these targets. That SEF covers an area so well, buts it also helps to change the angle of approach.

8" in mineralized soil is pretty good with the SEF on clad. Congratulations on the great silver!!!

I have come to realize that those of us using the v3i are in areas that have really been worked out and we are trying to squeek that last bit of silver out of the hunting grounds.

I have had exactly the same conclusion about squeeking the last bit of silver out of common areas. When I find myself anywhere that does have silver or large coppers the signal is so obvious if there is no masking. I also offer for thought that today's generation of quality detectors from the major manufactures hit hard on silver. Add the option of a coil like the SEF to a modern detector and the high conductive targets in the first 8" are far easier to find & with more sweep coverage. I believe heavy trash and small coils are the last frontier in heavily detected areas for our "daily silver fix".

Burlbark and Ytcoinshooter are spot on with respect to squeezing good finds out of hard hit sites. I've never used an SEF coil but for the heavy trash sites the 4X6 is my friend. Before using it I push my magnet on wheels on the site to remove surface trash. It takes some time but it makes seemingly un-huntable sites huntable. :detecting:
