More $1 coins and other weekend finds

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I didn't even know the presidential $1 coins existed before I found my first one on Friday (With George Washington on it, far left coin in the row of 3 $1 coins ). After that I proceeded to find one more on each of the next two consecutive days ( Polk, Harrison). Strange. I guess I'm working on a set. The other highlights include the St. Chris' bracelet ( no, it's not silver but it sure looked nice coming out of the dark ground in the morning sunlight ! ), an old marble, a cat earring w/back, an old button, an Argentinian peso, the pres. $1 coins, a silver cross, a Kennedy $.50 ( only my second one) and a 1953 D wheat penny. On top of almost $12 in clad and a LOT of junk jewelry and other fun finds and I guess you could say I had a good weekend. Enjoy.

It sounds like you had a great weekend Scott. There's many people out there that hasn't found a half dollar in years. Congrats on all the President dollars. Nice finds all around. HH, Nancy

Thanks Nancy. They don't compare with the coins you and Larry found over the weekend but I'm working my way towards that end. Did end up with 4 new ( old ? ) wheats last week. That almost doubled my entire total. All of your, and the other veterans,' advice and encouragement is helping tremendously. Thanks again.

You are right about that; that is a nice group of coins, and a super weekend find...And Ya; I'm one of the many looking
for their first half...

Enjoy, and good hunt/Cliff

Scott and others, It's not about the "type" of coins, metal detecting is about all the coins and relics. There's nothing wrong with the way you are hunting. Shoot, Larry and I would spend a whole day hunting clad coins and we would try to make or break our record coin counts. What a blast! We would hit the parks, playgrounds, tot lots, anywhere there would be an abundance of coins, we would be there. We would take a picnic lunch with us and enjoy a rest on the blanket and talk about this and that. One year we found over $1400.00 in clad coins. Let me tell you, that was a lot of work, but we had fun doing it. We used that cash for a partial down payment on our Sea Ray cabin cruiser! OH YEAH! We would always save up the clad coins till the end of the year. Take them to the bank and cash them in. We would save that money for our "FUN" money. Free vacations, free weekend get-aways, etc. See, there's nothing wrong with hitting the beaches, tot lots, etc. We were known as the King and Queen of Clad. No kidding. We've had many articles wrote about us. Others would say that that type of hunting wasn't for them and couldn't believe we didn't hunt for old coins. We would say that we could buy any old silver coin we wanted with our "found" money. No big deal. Now that we're older, we like to take it slower and go for the older coins, etc. On days when we just need a fix for detecting, but it's muddy or messy out, we'll go to a tot lot and dig around the wood chips. Lord knows wood chips and I get along great! Digging in the sand, wood chips, dirt......It's all about metal detecting! OK, I'll get off my soap box............HONEY, help me down will you? HH, Nancy

i like findin those dollar coins but ive only found 2. havent found a half yet. looks like youre off to a good start this year.

.....Yep, we had many $50 days cladding and our record was something over $56 in one day, and that is not counting the jewelry and trinket finds either. My old bones can't do much of that anymore.
