morbid opportunity?

I was given permission to metal detect this old spring near my church about 2 years ago, where they used to have baptisms and the school children from the late 1890's and on used for a playground and ate their lunch there. It seemed like a great place to find some old coins, but it was so overgrown with briars and saplings the few times I tried to hack my way through with a machete almost killed me.
A former member of our church passed away and was cremated and wants his ashes scattered at this spring where he spent many happy days in his childhood. The memorial service will take place after they clear a path to the old spring through the woods. It looks like an opportunity for me to finally get to metal detect this old spring but I do feel a little morbid about it in a way.
I feel like God has worked this out for me due to my disability and my service to the church and hope to find something special.

Yeah, look at this opportunity as a gift from God and the fellow who died...now you got two hunting buddies along rooting for you as you work that place!

Go for it, in metal detecting you learn when you get a change to detect a good spot, take it. It might be your first and last.

When someone is finished with their old earthly body and hopefully
obtaining a perfect and whole body in heaven! I don't think he would mind
you sharing a piece of this land that he so loved. He had to of asked to have
his ashes spread there just as you asked to metal detect there. You will do well
in this area and you will be assisted by a partner with a birds-eye view.

I went out to this site Friday and Saturday to help clear the brush and briars for the family of the man we had the memorial service for. I didn't get to metal detect, but one problem I noticed is they had dug out the spring about 10 years ago and piled the dirt about 5-6 feet high on one side of the spring so those coins are probably buried too deep for my metal detector. On the other side of the spring I believe there is an opportunity to find some old coins and I hope to hit it this weekend. Looking forward to finding something special. They scattered his ashes in the spring itself so I will hold off from metal detecting there for at least six months out of respect. That may sound silly, but that's the way I feel. HH

Well, sounds like your splitting things down the middle for now that's cool.
One member of the church gets one side of the spring and the other member
gets the other side. I understand completely the boundaries of respect that you
have set. I to would potentially have a shot at metal detecting a house from the
late 1800's but I don't believe I would ever detect it because one of my neighbors
died in a fire about a couple of weeks ago. The house has been taken down and
the whole outskirt of top soil and grass has not been touched. I could never detect
this property out of respect of its former resident. She held on for three months before
succumbing to her injuries. We were on vacation when this happened. We lost two neighbors
while we were away on vacation.
I'm looking forward to hearing and hopefully seeing your finds from your up coming hunt.
