I just received the 18 inch EXcelerator--Have you tried it before--I dont think the weight will be that much bother--JW made a sugestion to Reverse-the loop--Doing that does make it balance better---If you have not already tried the 18 in.---Your welcome to use it at the Club Hunt---Deathwind1

I have used the 18" Excelerator on a Minelab Explorer XS, but not on the MXT.
I have used he reverse-mounted technique for a number of years with various makes and models, and yes, it can help. Just make sure you have the coil cable wound snuggly around the rods, also be certain the coil is snug so it doesn't flop.
The coverage should be good for relatively shallo to 'typical depth' coins, but I doubt that the detection depth on coin-sized target will be better than a stock coil, and maybe not even quite that. Just depends on all the variables.
I hope to make the next meeting as well as the outing.
