Monte, what size coil do you recommend fo the silver sabre plus? Thanks

What do you think a used silver sabre plus should sell for? Do you like yours? What did you pay new.. if I may ask?

I like the 8 inch polo search head on my Silver Sabre Plus

Where I hunted the ground conditions were rather severe and the GB setting and handling of the SS+ just didn't cut it for me.

However, to answer the coil question, when I was hunting with the Inca, Silver Sabre, Silver Sabre Plus, and Royal Sabre ... but especially the 'original' Tesoro Eldorado, I preferred the 7" concentric coil about 90% of the time.

My second pick was the open-center white 8" coil, but since I was usually in trashy environments, especially iron junk, and/or brushy sites, the 7" concentric was the best coil for my purposes.

PS: Of all those 'pre-Bandido/Silver Sabre II' models, the Eldorado was my favorite.

Monte,

I totally agree with you. I also love Tesoro's 7" coil and it is my favorite!

For my area, I use and prefer the widescan version, but either one (widescan or concentric) is a 'killer'.

I especially liked using the 7" widescan on my Cortes.

Another thing about this coil is that its 'hit' intensity is very solid... providing a strong, well-defined 'beep' on targets. Its depth capability is also very respectable. Anyone who uses a Tesoro should have at least one version of their 7" coil!

A friend of mine bought a new, original Silver Sabre many years ago. It came from the factory with the 7" concentric coil. It is the only metal detector he has ever owned or used and you would not believe how many coins and 'stuff' he has found with it over the years.

Bigger, is not always better!
