Monte, of all the non metered detectors from Tesoro

Mike in Ky

Which one do you think is the best as far as coin hunting around old homesites? New and old detectors both. I just got another Bandido II uMax which is basically brand new and I can't help but think it is one of their best. Do you agree or disagree?

Mike

Yes, "I blew it!" when I wasn't quick enough to buy that Bandido II

It's the lower rod. I have this thing for the non-metal lower rods and I do NOT use a metal lower rod on any unit I own. I always change out the lower rod when I opts for a smaller coil. I also like the 8x9 better than the 8", but that's me.

Monte, that's just the way the Bandido II uMax came out of the box. I won't send the picture of the other coils mounted on the black fiber rods. I don't usually use the metal lower rod either. Even though it does have a fiber or plastic bottom stem. One question, why do you not like the 8" brown donut coil? I've always wondered about that. I knew you didn't like that coil.

Monte are you using any Tesoros for any of your hunting? It seemed like you were pretty much on TID units recently?

If they had a competitive Target ID unit, I would be using it as well, but they don't. At least not the way I like/need them to be.

Yes, I have been using some TID models, but that's partly because the vast majority of hobbyists these days have Target ID units. I do a good deal of field comparison work, and to be quite honest, even with a TID unit in hand that I like I don't always pay attention to the visual readout.

PS: I prefer AA battery powered models, and sure wish there was a new-and-improved Cort
