Monte ,ace 250 opinion

Monte,I just bought a ace 250 and wonder if you have tried one and your opinion.Still have my mxt and idx but surprised by the performance of the 250 around here.Thanks.

It's one of the better-performing Garrett models, it does well for the price, and I like the AA battery system.

I played with some before I bought my first one. Had an "offer I couldn't refuse" and traded it off. Got another last month to have on hand while my IDX Pro was off to 'Mr. Bill' for the modifications. However ....

Right now I am off on a 4-state ghost towning trip with some friends, and brought along my two trusted detectors and coils for serious work. My modified IDX Pro and Shadow X5.

The Ace 250's home with another couple of detectors I will sell when I return. Along with my own detectors I am doing some field evaluation of another make & model which I also put up against the Ace 250 before I headed out. The Ace 250 will surprise many with its performance in some applications, to be sure, but it would never replace the IDX Pro. For all around performance the IDX Pro is superior, and especially when hunting in highly mineralized environments.

Okay, time to tidy the motel room, get the rig organized and head out by daylight!
