Monster clad hunt with AT-Pro.

Off to a new park. 25 years old so no hope for old stuff. I just wanted to put some clad in the bank, anyway. Swung for 3 hours and found 142 (80 pennies) coins which is plenty for that amount of time. Not many nickels today for some reason. I was digging all signals. Experimented with Pro mode and can now eliminate most screw caps and bottle caps but I'm still digging them. I called all but one today and the one I missed was half of a zinc cent. Also first Sac of the year and a neat little 925 cross and chain. I know its dirty (noticed when I looked a photo) and when I went to clean it up better just now the chain broke. I'm bummed because it is pretty spiffy. Junk ring that had me hoping for around 3.75 seconds.

Any more news about UW out there?

Chris

Had about the same day as you today, cept I didnt find the silver cross...but got the Sac, and 43 Q's ...135 coins total..@17 bucks..5 hours hunting though....did get a silver bracelet yesterday, but broke it pulling it up outta the dirt thinking it was just wire...so between yesterday and today...Hmmm, , just topped off the truck for 32 dollars, I'm about even...(no...I'm down!)

Jinx. Buy me a Coke. I used to have hunts where I'd get 40 or 50 quarters but none so far this year. I think I had $11.05 in clad today but only used a gallon of gas to get to the site so I was a little up. Gas has me thinking not so many road trips this year. I have some sites that are around 60 miles from home. 120 miles round trip is a bit much at 4 bucks a gallon, I think.

Why aren't you posting photos, I'm wondering? Or am I missing them?

Chris

I dont know! I line all my stuff up on a towel and check dates when I get home, and then stack it all neatly in a treasure box...I have to get a decent camera, been using the phone for some shots, I will from now on though...I'm hoping the wife will get me a tumbler, or a scale and test kit for my B-day on the 19th... pictures are definitly inspirational, and I come here to look at them and get all jacked up early in the am before I head out!

Nice totals guys.....I'm not finding any clad where I have hunted...only got a quarter and two pennies in my 2011 jar.

We are in synch! I just ordered new gold test kit this morning because my acids were getting old. Tumbler ($30-$40 from Harbor Freight) and scale (20 bucks tops on Ebay) are necessities for me. A good loupe. Test kit for metal ($50-$70 with needles.) Red Book of US coins ($9.00) is also mandatory.

I just found 3 dimes and 2 pennies in the jeans I was wearing today as I was cleaning them out to wash! You must get out and find some thawed out ground soon!

local education empoundment, or outside the PigglyWiggly where they pile up the snow, or in the local tavern parking lot. Just get enough to make a presentable picture like Chris did, then go back to finding those really cool old gold necklaces and whatnot...

I find more pennies than anything. Did you get the Red Book of U S Coins at EBay, too? That's a good price. I've never bought anything from that site and plan to check it out. What size loupe do you use? I have a 30 X for looking at plants, but a friend recommended a 10 X for checking out rocks and stuff. I would like to get a loupe with the led light built in due to my cataracts.
Do you members who use EBay use Paypal ? I used it to pay for some soil block equipment last year and some uv lights and it saved me a little bit of money doing it that way. I guess my account is still active? I hear a lot about EBay, good and bad and any info would be helpful.

Heres a bunch of rotten clad...127 coins and 10.11 total...I was really hunting for jewelry as you can see from the junk shot...thats just no where near half of it!
anyway, got that JFK bicentenial half, which is only my 6th...that little square earring and the two rings are junk..my dirt digging finger is worn down to the first knuckle...think I'll water hunt tomorrow..

Good Luck everyone! get some gold this weekend wouldja? Its nearly 1500 per oz.!

From following your posts over the last couple years or so I knew you would do well with the AT-Pro. Impressive finds as always. I hope once I figure out this Ace 250, and I know nothing beats "stick time" I can do as well as you.

Jeff

Your doing well with the new detector:thumbup:

Nobody has called me Wilkie since high school. Do we know each other?

Now you must begin posting photos of your hunts on a new thread so everybody looks at them.

Chris

Watch khouse's (mowerdog? on Youtube) video on pinpointing/detuning the Ace 250. It is the best thee minutes you can spend learning how to use a Garrett detector. I hope this is the link.

Most of the snow is gone but the grounds are wet and muddy.
Hope to go hit a ski slope tomorrow 2 hours drive out of town.
It'll be first good test for the AT PRO after that bad experience I had
while vacationing in Jamaica detecting with the AT PRO at
a public beach . LOL
