Monkey on a typewiter...

I was playing around with the 10 X 14DD coil that came with my 1350 today, and the 4.5" and 7 X 10 coils worked perfectly on my test plot in the back yard. When I attached the 10 X 14DD id sounded like a monkey on a typewriter... constand dinging and the pointer all over the place. What gives?

it has probably lost it's airtight seal and it's pickup some moisture. Call or e-mail Mary at Garrett. maryp@garrett.com. It will only cost you the shipping to Garrett. The replacement will be free as long as it's not your fault. I bought my GTA1000 at a garage sale and told Garrett so and they still replaced the coil for shipping it there. Great company to deal with.

OK, it is brand new, I took it out to an old homesite today to check it out and it worked perfectly. It must be something here in the neighborhood that was causing the problem. It is one of those new types that appear to have epoxy poured into a shell and it looks fine. All of our power in the neighborhood is underground, I wonder if I was close to one of the lines??

one of the parks here has an area that that causes my old GTA 1000 to pop intermittantly. It's spooky when it does that. My cousin has a GTA 500 and it does the same thing in that area. Hope you did well.

Thanks all, yea it is something like underground lines, I brought it back home, and it acted up again, but ONLY with the big 10 X 14 DD coil the others have no problem. Go figure
