Money is NO issue.. What would you do?

So if money were not the issue, what purchase would you make? The VX3, the CTX3030 or the XP Deus? I just cant decide!! Here is my hunting conditions...
Indiana
Old parks
Old Schools
Fields
Not much water hunting

For old parks, schools and water hunting, I use the CTX 3030. For plowed fields and relic hunting, I use the V3i. For competition hunts and clad/jewelry gathering in sports fields, it is the M6 with the Bigfoot coil. If I had to choose just one detector to do it all with small sacrifices on deep silver and water hunting, it would have to be the V3i.

I tried the Deus and was less than satisfied with the type of hunting I do.

Your going to get answers ALL over the board here. It boils down to what YOUR capabilities are. CTX3030 is a lot of learning. If your up to the chalange or not. I would do what I felt comfortable doing and maybe learn from locals what machine is best for YOUR area. Only advice I can give. I do know my top of the line White's smoked in Utah but was a different story in Michigan.

One of each!

But if only one I'd be the most tempred to buy the CTX since I'm already an ETrac user and it suits my style.

Ultimately its your deceison, Do the pros and cons of the detectors and deceide what fits you needs. Also all the bells and whisle detectors might not be for you, especially if your new to the hobby.Best of luck ! Woodchuck

If money was no issue, I'd be looking for a new water machine. I'd need it to use at the new beach house I'd buy with the money that was no issue.

One of each kind Blonde, Brunette, Redhead....

Keep testing to find out which one went the deepest...

Even if money is no issue, I would try to find others in my area that use these machines you listed and meet up with them to check them out and discuss them. All 3 also have a learning curve besides the higher price tag and quite possibly, some may be easier to figure out than the others. As always, the machine is only going to be the right choice if you learn it and understand it.

First question is how much weight can you take and how long are your detecting outings?

The Deus is great for all day in the fields - where you are digging most all non-ferrous. I don't use it but many do swear by it for old parks and schools. I'm not convinced that the target ID on it is accurate enough to not be digging too many holes in parks and schools.

The people that I personally know who have the CTX and can handle the weight absolutely adore it for all your purposes above.

Good advice. Because I've found in my mild to higher mineralized land and beach sites, machines said to have outstanding performance could not cope with my minerals, even my more mild sites (which ain't too bad at all, but I suspect the particular minerals present are the issue and not the degree of them), and would have instability, depth, and ID issues. In particular machines above about 8khz seem to have problems in my soil.

I've owned or used most of what's out there, so if money was no issue then I'd probably add a T2 or F75 limited series to my line up, just to see if one machine in that frequency range can finally handle my soil, and also to have a different beast in my line up for certain days. More than likely though, I'd probably start stock piling 4 or 5 Sovereigns GTs and even a few older models of the Sovereign like the XS or the Elite, because with the GT now defunct come December I expect them to get even harder to find and even more expensive, just like the 6000 Pro XL did.

I'd also add a couple SE Pros with 12x10s and Ultimates to my line up as well, because I expect it to get scarce and pricey too once they find their way into the right hands of people who know what they got.

I'd do the same thing with coils too for the Sovereign. The 8" Tornado is already hard to find used being an excellent coil in heavy trash at only 7 & 1/4" in actual size, and a very deep coil from what I hear. A few backup 12x10s and Ultimates for both my Sovereigns and my Explorers wouldn't hurt either. Oh, I'd also add a 6" Excelerator to my Explorer line up, as I hear it's a great coil separation wise with outstanding depth for the FBS units, like the 8" Tornado is for the BBS models.

One of the backup Sovereign's I'd commit to my water shaft in a waterproof box I can throw the control box into when I want. I already do that with the GT, but it would save a few seconds not having to unclip it from my light weight land shaft I built and throw it on my water rig (stock shaft). Not a big hassle to do to go from old coin hunting on land to water hunting for rings, but then again the title of this thread is if money was no object... I know a guy right now who is stock piling all the Sovereign parts he can find right now it seems like, and I'm envious of him getting them while the getting is still easy and reasonably priced.

As many detectors and accessories you have bought in the last year or so... We thought you had a shop ..............

Ahhhhh, mascard just knows true value Elton---realizes they're cheaper by the dozen!!---What's the tector count up to now Michael--50??--60??-----If Michael ever starts a new hobby, the detector manufacturers are going to have to "close shop"! :lmfao:

Noticed that no one mentioned the V3X, but it does have one of the highest user satisfaction ratings of any detector out there which ought to count for something. The other day I came across a relatively new CTX owner and he showed me all its features and I'll have to admit that I came away very impressed with what all the CTX had to offer. Though it did make me feel good to see my Safari match his CTX coin for coin in the short while we hunted together.

I have my Detector room...have to put on a radiation suit to go in there......I can't tell you how much fun it is to go in there and pick a detector to play with....I think they change ever time!............I new there had to be some joy at getting older...........or is that Younger?

 I can't "top" that one Michael!!
