My Excal 1000 is in Vegas for repairs, so I requisitioned Huntress's 800 (it is not quite right either, with a sensitivity knob that spins around like the head of the exorcist-it goes back after the 1000 comes back) and went for a solo spin on Monday morning at 6A, into a 558A (late) 0.6L and N winds at 20-25K. Was wearing the wetsuit and water temps are in the 60s here. Not too bad while I was finding loot, but there were periods of chill in the day, primarily early. I hunted 5 different locations this particular day and the nuts are separated, for your viewing pleasure. The western most nut, was from the 1st location and ends at the copper hair clip, which was quite an elegant design and it had some colored rhinestones. A non-ferrous junk hoop, was also recovered at this location and a meager $.39 in clad and MANY pull-tabs.

I left there at 815A. for richer areas. Next spot was no better and hunted there from 820A-9A and ended up with $.26 in clad. The 3rd area was a complete shut-out, it was just TOO quiet there and only stayed from 915A-920A and left again. Finally, I was at my 4th location in the surf and it was painfully quiet too, but started trying some different things to get something to happen.

I hunted this spot from 930A-1115A and ended up with $.31, but a ring finally showed! It is a boy's class of 2009 ring, Ponca City High School and 92.5 inscribed. Will more than likely return it for the shipping, insurance and about a $6 buffer to cover me scrap value, savvy? It has 2 I-D-B-D stones on each side of the center red stone. I actually got the green light on one of them, but who cares, they are not worth anything anyway, right? Finally, I could no longer take the silence and moved to the 5th and final location, hoping for a break in the action. I was in the water next at 1130A. Clad count was still lame, at $1.49, but clad is simply a casualty of war, right? We are looking for gold, right? There was a .925 band, with "WILLIAM" inscribed on it.

The prize is VERY interesting indeed. It is not marked with a karat stamp, but is VERY heavy for it's size, at .41 troy OZs or 12.9Gs, whichever flavor you like. At 1st glance it had a kind of yellow hue, like 10K would have. Upon polishing the ring, it looks like white gold. It held tests for 10K-18K acids. It is a 2002 class ring for an architectural school in Nuevo Laredo and says, "arquitecto" and has a modern looking design and insignia. I may take it to a jeweler to have a professional test run on it. If it is really 18K, then it is worth around $250 today. Sorry mates, this one is going to Midwest, fer a bar! I like days like that, don't ya'll? Baled at 330P, after it got slow there too.
