Took a small road trip about 40 miles outside the city to
a town thats fast becomeing a ghost town. Contacted the local
Town Hall people and the Deputy Sheriff in town. Everyones very nice there.
They directed me to the old fair grounds where I started to MD.
Lots of junk.
Targets were coming in at 1-2 inches were all junk so I focused on all deep targets,
4-8 inches and beyond but that too was all junk. I posted some photos of the
crapola. Ended up with .54 cents. Still it was a nice day and the ground was still
wet from the rains we had so it was easy digging.
Theres only about 120 families left of the 500 who lived there in 2001.
The main street businesses are all closed up. Only the cafe is reopened under
new management, and it was dead as a rusty nail. The coffee tasted worse than that!
An older lady, a senior citizen probably close to 70 + came over and asked how
I was doing. She has a metal detector but doesn't get out much to use it.
She said its a Whites but didn't tell me the model.
Another lady, a widow in HER seventies stopped by to chat as well. I told her I planned
to knock on a few doors and see about MDing aroound the year. She said she just
had an old house torn down right behind her home. I'm welcome to come over another day
MD there. I plan to go back this Thursday after I get my Garrett Pro-pointer.
The little HH pinpointer has been ok but today I was just fed up with it. I called my MD dealer a couple states
away and he's shipping one out tonight. $127 and he pays the shipping.

The old fair grounds are located right behind the local school. Its right on the school grounds.
I almost hated to dig for targets.
