Went for a spin with Huntress on monday am. Started the hunt with the Excal, but that unit is BAD sick right now and is on the way to Vegas for warranty work. I sure hope it is back for my - tides in dec and jan. Huntress said I could run the 800, since it may be too cold for her, especially at night. Anyway, ran the Aquasearch and believe it or not this was a clean surf area! Hard to believe huh?
We began the hunt at 930A, 2 tide day into a 358P 0.7L and SE winds 10-15. Tried the mine and it was rank! Most of the loot was coming to hand right in the lane. Shell exposures and a slight drop-off were THE SPOT. Ended up with $.41 in clad (Huntress schooled me!), ferrous hoop, a tiny colored bead ring w/non-ferrous cross, a pendant or charm of a frog (about the same size as a rain frog) which was unmarked, but I just acid tested that fine unit and it held up to 14K. The ring is 10K and real fine, with a bear and pink stone. It was a real fine day and it was VERY good to see a little gold again, as it's been a while for me (10-19-06). We bailed at 230P as we had another engagement to attend to and we both were SMILIN'!
