Out for a short hunt this morning at another new place. I don't think it had been MDed in a long time. I found 64 coins for exactly $8.00 in just under 2 hours. Not one other keeper. It was pretty trashy so I took my time. I only managed to cover about 10 percent or less of the park so it's nice to have some virgin ground available to finish out 2007. A police car drove up and gave me a long look about 45 minutes after I started. I figured I would get the third degree but he pulled into a small clearing amongst some trees obviously looking for speeders. When I got close to him he stepped out to ask what I had found. Nice guy. Only scare was a 1970 Canadian Quarter. I have found so few Canadian Coins besides pennies (cents) it gave me hope of a half dollar where it registered. Lots of old style pop tops to dig but I am hoping there is some gold too.
Thanks to John in West Va for all the advice in PMs over the weekend. I am planning a trip to Florida (Northern East Coast) in late January to do a little MDing and some visiting. I know it's not the season but I want to avoid spring break and the Daytona 500 as much as possible. Also hotel rooms right on the beach are pretty inexpensive at that time. Hopefully there is some loot to find. Always plenty of parks to try as well. I know I'll need a fix by then. As always I'd love opinions from the masters.
No pics of the clad much of which was bright orange from being in wet, swampy ground for many years.
Good luck gang!
Chris
