Monday evening finds.

Ray-Mo.....That picture tells its own story of your hunt.

I appreciate an original shot of anyone's finds, just as they looked when poured from your finds pouch.

I know it's a task when you're keen to keep detecting, but I try to photograph my finds 'in situ' or by the hole they're from, whenever possible.

If you're 'gloved up' or otherwise 'dirty hands' , then it's risky to handle a decent camera in such situations. I usually use a cheapo, but the results in macro mode
are often disappointing, which defeats the exercise....still I try.

This last weekend's rally was a wash out. Here in the UK our latest May weather has been 'sodden awful'....wind and rain.

So in the evening we all piled into a 2x2 metre gazebo and had a great game of cards. Plenty of story telling...ghosts...other rallies etc.

Outside the rain and wind was so fierce it drove the water through the fabric sides. But with plenty to eat, and drink, plus one candle and a lantern, we survived.

We emptied 'the saloon' at midnight, hitched up a small inner sleeping tent, and then I climbed into my bag....Oh brother was it cold. I finally fell asleep about 3 am, and woke at 5 am.

I fired up my little GAZ stove, made a cup of coffee, listened to the rain, then back into my 'sack' and fell asleep again until dawn.

Sometimes I think metal detectorist are mad....stark staring bonkers.....but I like it.......The-sleepy-Marshall

Nice finds Ray! Question Ray, did I see you say you were getting the 8x6 SEF coil...have you gotten it yet and if so, have you used it yet. I'm waiting on your report on it used at some hard hit sites. Let us know what you think about it. Thanks ken.

Very nice variety Ray.........I thought MY COMPUTER ATE your SECOND PICTURE,but I clicked it ,and it poped up........I would still love to hear the story on the other hunt..........Maybe next outing you'll be able to share...(If your computer will cooperate...L.O.L.)

Deeper coins are all that is left in that park except a few freshly dropped clad next to the playground equipment,Ray.

"Deeper coins are all that is left in that park except a few freshly dropped clad next to the playground equipment,Ray." Ray-mo, this reminded me of a lesson I learned the hard way years ago about "playground equipment". I'd been working out an old park for years that was on colonial ground. Smack in the middle was a modern swing set; concrete embankment around it, some woodchips, etc.. It was the absolute last spot I was interested in spending much time on. I lent a friend my metal detector (he'd only been detecting a few weeks!) , he went right for the swing set, got a signal directly under the swing (which must have been gone over a hundred times before including by me) and at about nine or ten inches he pulled out a 1793 chainback! I was sick! About a year later I was to dig a chainback myself in a farm field. The chain was clearly visible, but I put it in a puddle of water to get a little of the dirt off, and every bit of corrosion went off with the dirt leaving a coin with the surface of a deep sea sponge. The only way I can even identify it now is to put it side by side with a picture and point out the multitude of solid spots conform to the design. Anyway, I guess the point is, dig anything, even if it is in a seemingly lousy spot.

Well be sure and let us know when you give it a workout, you're the one person that convinced me to get a etrac, which I don't regret one bit, I have a minelab 8" coil, but not overly happy with it, it seems to false lots more that the stock coil and if you're running the stock coil at like 25 in auto sensitivity, on the 8" coil in the same spot it will only run like 16, which doesn't make up sense, on most detector you can run more sensitivity on a small coil than you would on a larger one. Looking forward to your report, and keep up the good hunting. Ken

I am looking forward to trying the 8x6 if Kellyco gets it together and decides to ship it.It should have shipped last week but they had a glitch and never bothered to call.I called a few min. ago and hopefully got it corrected as they said it will ship in the morning. We will see,Ray.

Hi Ray-Mo,

Your not alone in waiting, I've got the same coil on order and this is the response email that Doris from Kellyco sent me just yesterday. There must be quite a few waiting for this coil.......

"Hello David,

Yes, funny that you wrote.... you must have sensed that your coil is back in stock and is leaving via air mail..... today!! You should be receiving it within 10 days, give or take.

I do thank you for your patience and wish you lots of fun and success with this new coil. Customer feedback has been fantastic!!

Have a wonderful day!
