Has anyone compared the two coils on a Bandido II Micromax or other Micromax models? If so, what were the resolute?
Thanks

Yes, I compared the new 7" coil on my new Mojave a year ago and spent maybe three weeks swapping all my search coils around on the different models I had on-hand at the time. I came to a few different results to consider. First up is the fact that different models will behave kind of similarly, yet slightly different. That is why I hand-select the search coils I like to use on different detectors in my personal inventory.
Second, it confirmed the known fact that different size and type search coils will also display some positive and negative behaviors for different site environments and on different detectors. On-hand at the time I was doing my side-by-side detector and search coil comparisons I used the following Tesoro models:
• 'Original' Silver Sabre
• Silver Sabre microMAX
• 'Original' Bandido
• Two Bandido II microMAX units
• Mojave
Coils on-hand for comparison:
• Three thin-profile 6" Concentric
(5.75 Tesoro lingo)
• 'original' 7" thicker white Concentric
• 7" Concentric 'Precision' from Mojave
• Three brown 'donut' 8" Concentric
• White 'donut' 8" Concentric
Results and conclusions I made for the new 'Precision' 7" Concentric coil were:
It worked well. If I acquired a detector that didn't have a search coil, and I was going to buy a new search coil for it to be used for 'day-to-day' use for typical Coin & Jewelry Hunting, I would buy the new 7" Concentric coil. I like the looks and feel of the 7" better than the original thicker-bodied 7", and I felt the general field performance was close enough to the 8" that it would make a nice fit in my detector group.
I am not usually going to use the round 8" Concentric coil or the Out-of-Round 8X9 spoked Concentric coil, either, because most of my hunting is in brushier, confined sites with building rubble or a lot of discarded debris. I prefer a smaller-size search coil most of the time. For example, I keep a round 7" Concentric coil mounted on a Nokta Impact or when needed I swap for the smaller 5¼" DD. My primary-use Nokta Relic has the 5¼" DD mounted, and my Nokta CoRe has the 4.7X5.2
'OOR' DD coil attached. My Makro Racer 2 sports the
'OOR' DD coil most of the time, or a new 7" Concentric if a site is a little less trashy or confined. My main-use White's MX-7 uses the 6½" Concentric coil.
So with several Tesoro models in my personal arsenal and a lot of search coils to pick from, what did I decide to do with the 7" 'Precision' Concentric coil? I determined that, for me and the many sites I hunt, it was a terrific coil to go back on and stay on my Mojave. I liked the Mojave's performance where I use it most with the new 7" more than the other coils I evaluated. I then kept a 6" Concentric coil on my Vaquero, and the white 6" Concentric coils I had stayed on my 'original' Bandido, Silver Sabre microMAX, and Bandido II microMAX models, and I parted with the thicker older 7" and all of the white and brown 8" 'donut' coils I had around.
I did have my perfect condition Bandido II microMAX w/6" stolen from me last October and have just acquired a Bandido II microMAX to replace it. Generally it is a nice condition unit, but I'll pay the necessary amount to have it overhauled as the Discrimination is a little off, and I'll likely sell the brown 8" coil that is on it. I need to track down a clean smaller Concentric for my new-to-me Bandido II microMAX when it returns from service and will be ready-to-go. Who knows, I might even stumble on a deal for a 6" Concentric again, but the new style 7" Concentric would make a nice assigned search coil. That's the same detector model you're inquiring about, too.
I do like the 7" and prefer it for a general use coil over the 8", but found the 6" Concentric to still have an edge when working and comparing them in a dense iron nail environment. If you're just picking between the new 7" and traditional open 8", I like the 7" better and that's what I'm going to get for mine.
