Modifying a simple cheap metal/voltage detector for pinpointing.

Fabio

New member
I have a metal/voltage detector. First off, I'm gonna change the terrible sounding buzzer and put a softer tone buzzer in.
Next, I'm gonna work on the coil, since it's long and I want a shorter pinpointer with a less wider target area.
Finally, I'm gonna change the casing to make it look like an actual pinpointer.
I'll fill you in with my work in progress.
Did anyone already attempt something like this, and were you successful?

Do some Googeling and you should find some tips and even instructions, a pager or cell phone vibrator motor makes a nice addition. Modifing the Harbor Frieght, Cen-tec pinpointer would be simpler.
