Modify Silver uMax

Hello

Some weeks ago I bought myself the Tesoro Silver uMax with hopes to prospect with it. I knew very well this isn't the detector up for the task. I also bought the 5,75" concentric coil.
Somehow I manage to find a 3,7mm piece of lead, that wheights roughly 0.4 grams, 10 cm (4") in the ground. THAT is a very good result. And they say that lead gives the same reading as natural occuring gold.
Now I got myself a nugget shooter to prospect with.

SO...
Is there a way to tink the all metal mode into a non motion threshold mode?
Is it possible to change the crystal/oscillator to higher the operating frequency?

Imagine having a Silver uMax - with non motion threshold based, all metal mode in around 20khz with manual ground balance. WOW. :smoke:

Main question is, does the circuitboard allow you to modify it at this level or do I have to live with it as it is?

Also, what does it mean to Power Balance?

I'll be very thankful for honest straight up replies.

a youtube video "cibola metal detector showing how to power bal with added ground balance mod" by relic 1864. is a good video explaination of it. of course you can do it with a vaquero. dont know about the rest of your questions. sure some people on here do though.

Not much you can do with a Silver.
Leave it alone, its a decent machine just like it is. Just go hunt with it.
It does not have a threshold based all metal mode.
All metal mode is just disc mode at a lower setting to accept more iron targets.
If you want more features, look to another Tesoro. Cibola, Vaq, Cortes, Outlaw, Lobo.
The only Silver worth modifying is the older Silver Sabre Umax.
It is a totally different machine than the Silver Umax.

I tested out my Silver uMax on gold nuggets when I was in the AZ Goldfields
it didn't do worth a darn..... wouldn't hit even a larger nugget, but does find lead
I would check it out a little more before I took it out....
