I read that some users have modifications done to their machines. Are they done by request at the Tesoro factory or by another vendor? If done by someone else does it void the warranty?

I can now watch movies while I detect.

Seems to be a fine line between doing a modification or a adjustment. To me if I were to adjust the internal ground balance, etc, without adding or removing a component it should be considered an adjustment & shouldn't void the warranty. But if I was to add a switch, pot. or remove a component, etc. it should be considered a modification and should void the warranty. But what do I know. Steve.

I know of several instances where Tesoro wouldn't touch a machine that had been modified. They wouldn't replace the pinpoint button with a toggle switch on one of mine when I asked, so I did it myself.

Well, I had to ask. I was looking back on some of the older posts and some guys were adding things like manual ground balance for example to units that only had preset. I wondered if there might be a list of non advertised options that could be added.

Tesoro will not mod any of their units and will not work on any of them that have been modded internally....actually very emphatic rel this and kiss your warranty god-bye if you do..Imagine cosmetic mods would not have this affect....

For example, SkiWhiz posts on 2/17/08 and starts a thread in which several forum members discuss the subject.

Discuss is putting it mildly. I have a White's detector on it's way to me (still have a Tesoro always will) and at the different White's forums adjustments is not frowned on, several posts stating where the various rubber plugs are so a person can remove them to adjust the ground balance. I can't see every Tom Dick & Harry opening up a detector to do an adjustment but C'mon people why send a detector especially if it is your only one away for weeks just to turn a screw 2 hairs clockwise or counterclockwise. But I am not going there again. I just sold my Silver uMax to UncleTom that I put a pinpoint button on & I am hoping that he comments on it either good or bad here on the forum. Thanks! Steve.
