model year Excalibur II

hello gentlemen, looking for information on how to determine year of manufacture for Excalibur II. I just purchased my first detector. Bought it from instock inventory and not drop shipped from factory, because they were back ordered. I tried to register it with minelab for warranty purposes, but the serial # wasn't found in their system. They said they have better serial number records starting in sept. 2010. There was a small round sticker on the box wich had "OOBA-09" would this be the year it was shipped? I'am wondering if I recieved an older model year. It's Malaysian made.I heard the quality suffered on the early malaysian made, but has improved now. Is there any way to determine year of manufacture? Thank's for any insight

The Excalibur II just came out about 2 years ago and it would have to be a 2010 one if it was made in Malaysia a the first one were made in Ireland. Never heard or a early and late one made in Malaysia.

Look on the coil as there should be a serial#. that might help determine that your machine isn't from the counterfeit distributors. It sure sound suspicious that Minelab has no record of a 3yr. old product. Someone could change batteries and coil but each one has a serial#. Hope you get it straightened out.

look in the main tube for the main serial number.....you can see it thru the plastic tube..the serial number on the coil is the coil serial number...as theres a number on the battery too..keeo note to these numbers cause youll need them to prove it was yours if you ever had a problem like i did...
hope this helps

Thank's for the help. I guess my ignorance was showing . I didn't realize you had to remove the control unit and look through the plastic to find the serial #. I thought the numbers on the sticker along the side of control unit was the serial # like it is on the coil. All is well it's registered. Thank's again
