Model comparison

I am looking at purchasing my 1st Detector and after some research have been pointed in the direction of Minelab's.

I am looking at some used ones at the moment, but need some pointers as the difference in the models.
They are:
> Minelab SD2200D with a 11" DD Coil
> Minelab SD2000 apparently upgraded(?) also with a 11" DD coil
or a
> Minelab FT 16000 c/w a 8" coil (Older model)

With the exception for FT 16000 being cheaper, what would be most suitable model for gold fields and why that model ?
Perhaps benefits/Disadvantages of each model?

Corey....

Just noticed that this forum thread was for Minelab X-Terra.

I hope this is the correct place for my post above ?

This is one place to ask but is not as active as it used to be...All of those will work for finding gold. The 2000 was the first Minelab PI unit...many people love the upgrades but I have no way of knowing what they are. The 2200-d was the third Minelab PI unit and except for a weak audio is a very good detector. The 1600 is a vlf unit and cannot be compared to any PI unit...this is all only my opinion.
You might want to go to other gold prospecting forums and ask these questions...do a search for nugget hunting and you should get all the forum you want.

good luck

Fred
