Mode question...

I have a question and hope I can explain the question so you know what I'm asking. When I switch from Quickstart mode to Advanced mode and make a change in "recovery" to "fast" and then switch back to Quickstart mode does the setting stay on "fast". To say it another way, do settings that can only be made in advanced mode (recovery, response) carry over to the quickstart mode?
Thanks, ArtWI

in a word No

I've been studying everything I can lay my hands on for the last 4 months including reading all the archived Explorer posts on this forum and sure learned a lot from everyone who has posted here in the last two+ years. My dealer delivered my Explorer XS last Monday and I'm impressed with it already. The tones remind me of the XLT in mixed mode which was my first detector. My question was the only thing I wasn't sure of right now. Can't wait for the weather to break into spring here in Wisconsin.

you pick up a SunRay X-1 probe to go along with your new Explorer, it's something you should think about. Just about anybody who uses one will tell you it's a must have, makes life alot easyer for you when you get that hole opened up. Here is a picture of a two or three day old plug that I found at a park I was hunting, notice the nice green grass all around the dead plug. I ran my coil over this plug when I first spotted it, rang out silver at about 6 inches, pulled the plug out with my hand and put the X-1 probe in the hole and found this Merc in the side of the hole, found another plug that had a Indian head in it also, somebody gave up on these coins because they couldn't find them. The X-1 sounded right off and there they were, the probe is a must if your gonna dig deep for coins, hh Ray

I agree with Ray 100%
the x-1 is the greatest thing will save you lots of time.
The explorer is a whole new animal as far as your previous experience with detectors. What I found was to dig everything until you understand what the detector is telling you. You have to learn it's language. Then try to say what you are going to find when you get a signal. If you will look at Big Mike's post today even he digs signals that he thinks are junk because even he is wrong some of the time. I consider him to be the best with the explorer.
remember the 3 P's practice, patience, and perseverance. That is all it takes
Godd hunting

the X-1 probe on order along with an upper shaft and also a lower shaft for the 8" coil I got with the detector. I already have the Sunray cover, anti coil flopper deal and the stand. Last night I got a call with the offer of a Sunray 5" and lower rod that's never been used for a great price and I bought that also. Come on spring!!!

Happy to hear that you ordered the X-1 probe. I ordered one and Ralph told me the day it would be in my hand and just like his X-1 probe. He is right on. That day I recieved it and what a difference it has made.
I know you will be as happy as I am with it.
