ML Advantage

Have one on the way, forgive me if I'm in the wrong forums..but for the $$ looks like a great detector single freq.that still has ML's quality..
Any idea's on coils I can use and optional Nicad system for this critter..daughter want to hunts some, but I will be using some as well..

Dan,
The Advantage is a good detector for the money and very sensitive, but dont think it will do the job for coin hunting and ID like the Explorer or the Sovereigns, but do OK. It is a great relic detector and has good depth and loves rusty bottle caps from my experience with it.
On coil the only 2 I know of is the 10 inch and the 8 inch coils by Minelab. Minelab does make a rechargeable battery and charger for it and know of no one else that makes one for the Advantage or the Elite.
Good luck and have fun with the new Advantage.

Oh no, not expecting that much for money paid very good looking unit..Hey bud, you decided on the Explorer now or ole trusty Sov. still?

I'm thinking on ML Explorer II or Coinstrike..hmmm-need opinions on both..

Dan,
I have the New Elite and the Explorer XS II that I use mostly as I am still trying to master the XS II like I did with the Sovereign. I also use the X5 and my wife MXT when I can as they too do well.
Rick

I would go with the Minelab because I know first hand what they'll do. But, I have heard good remarks about the Fisher Coinstrike. There was a guy in the forums just recently that sold a Coinstrike to buy an Explorer. So, you might just save your time and buy an Explorer... <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

You will be happy with the advantage.. right now I think its the best detector available in its price range, only downfall is its weight(compared to other detectors in the price range available) I dont think you can use the old musky coils with it.. its gotta be the new double D types.. ML only has a 8 and 10 available.. I know coiltec makes a 15 inch wot, but not sure if they are for the Musky XS or the advantage... make sure you find out before buying.. I put my old musky coil on my advantage and it went nuts....

Rick, How do the X% and MXT compare eith the XS II
in depth and bad ground.I'm having a lot of problems
trying to decide what detector to buy (ExplorerII X5 or MXT)

What type of hunting you are going to do.
The XS II seems the deepest and can pick out good beside bad easiest with the X5 the most sensitive while the MXT is probably the easiest to use and understand.
My ground isnt bad for minerals, but for trash and each can be set or a coil change to compensate for it and can do good with any one of them.
The XS II has the longest learning curve and you do have to spend some time with it to do real good.
