One question I have been wondering about.-----Is there a chance of this battery burning out the back lights on the Explorers/Etracs when used with the back light on?

Hello D&P-OR,

"Good Question, I hope this helps"

The ML-2900 will absolutely not hurt any of the electronics or the back light on your Explorers/Etracs or any of the FBS machines.

We have tested the 2900 in the field for over a year before letting it out into the metal detecting world!

You can read your Manual that came with the Explorer and the Minelab Tech Dept. wrote not to exceed 13 volts.

Our ML-2900 Batt Pack Charges up to 12.5 volts and auto shuts off to prevent overcharging..

Best Regards

Joe

Thanks Joe-----I'm sure your answer to my question sets other peoples minds at ease also (as well as mine) in regard to the back light.-----Your advanced battery & charger(s) sounds like a super piece of equip. & something that has been needed in the Explorer/Etrac line for a long time (IMO).-------I am sure I will be placing an order for a couple for my wife & I before long.------------Del

Hello NealNoIN,

Yes, I would have to say you are real close.....

Comes down to how you use your Minelab Machine

Best Regards

Joe

Joe.... get to kicing on that Xcal battery. id love to test one like i said in my Email to you. We need a darn light on our chargers in the worth way and some good lith ions. I assume you are saying the 12.5V over the 9V output will extend battery life because of the current limiting resistor in series with the coil to limit the current. That along with it being a 2900 over the 1600 mAH giving it more storage.

manual says on page 11 Rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries will give a combined voltage above 13v and therefore cannot be used with the Explorer SE

The chargers ( both the home and auto) for the RNB rechargeable battery automatically stop charging at 12.5 v the light will then turn from red to green to signify the battery is fully charged . This was also stated in a previous post a few spaces down .

This is the ML-2900 Batt Pack "R-Side" Hooked up to a Multi-Meter after a full charge on the RNB Smart Charger..

I thought you might want to see this first hand to show you a 12.61v read out!

I hope this Helps

Best Regards

Joe

Looks like a pretty nice setup. I'm glad it was cleared up about the automatic shutoff at 12.5 volts:beers:
