Mixed Message in Sovergn Manual ?

I was reading the Sovergn Manual tonight and under the Quick Start settings on page 12
it says ..... c) set the Ground Balance swith to pinpoint.

Then ....on page 21 it makes referece to a Note:

Note: You should not search in Pinpoint as the ground balance is disabled and the
detector can become erratic.

Ok !! ......which one is it?

I plan to use this on a salt water beach when I take a trip.
Any tips would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Maybe because you ought to search in Discrimination mode. When you switch to all metal, if the switch is in pinpoint, it is ready to pinpoint a target.

The "Ground Balance Switch" is a misprint. On the GT the PP switch has All Metal Track, All Metal Fixed, or All Metal PP. There machine uses a special form of ground "balancing" in discriminate mode that has nothing to do with the All Metal ones. Tracked is ground tracking which is good for fast changing ground but can track out deep targets as you continue to sweep over them. Fixed is what most would use in All Metal and requires you to use track to set it, then flip it to fixed to lock it into a static balance that won't change. PP mode has no form of ground balance and that's why it can get noisy if you hunt in that mode in rough ground.
