Mixed Emotions On This Outing...

Had a few hours of detecting time to put in right after work tonight. I had my heart set on going back to the old house sites where I found the Eagle button and the token two days ago.. Unfortunately there was just too much construction going on at the houses and I didn't want to get in the way. So I decided to hit up the local run down park. Right off the bat things were going good... First old coin ended up being a SCREAMING merc. She sounded so good I couldn't believe she had been missed in the past. The second hit I got was much different. The tone was there just broken up a bit. The courser bounced back and forth from the right ride of the screen, back over to iron. But seemed to favour the conductive side. Definitely a target worth looking into. I opened up the plug and plain as day another merc was lurking out at me from the bottom of the plug i removed. I looked down at the bottom of the hole to see reddish rusty soil. There was a nail laying directly under the merc. The merc even had a tad bit of rust right on the L in Liberty which explained the jumpy signal. I was on a role!! Two mercs and no wheat pennies.. It always seems like i have to dig a dozen wheats just to find one merc.. So guess what my next two hits were. Wheat pennies.... lol Both were about a foot from each other. My 5th target almost made me have a heart attack at a young age. I got another deep signal that sounded very muffled.. I opened up the hole and started poking around.. Then a little silver disk pops out.. Heart started pounding... Hands started shaking... My immediate thoughts were Half Dime.. I picked it up and started cleaning some dirt off.. I could see a face on the front.. Started to get even more excited.. Little more dirt came off, Oh it had a date.. 1792... What the H#@# I flipped it over and it read PLAY MONEY.. :puke: I could have thrown the detector LOL After all that excitement it was time for me to hit the dusty trail. My better half was getting off work soon. So i slowly detected my way back to the car.. Got right next to the pavement and got one last deeper hit.. sounded more like an Indian.. Dug down and popped out another coin. 1968 Canadian dime.. I don't know much about Canadian coins but I think It has a percentage of silver made into the coin just by how clean it came out of the ground. She didn't sound like silver normally does tho.. Well again I appreciate every one looking and reading my post..
Happy Hunting Everyone!!!!!

That silver is money.... the trash they make today wont last as long as that piece of play money you found. Man u are still pulling great finds from parks.... its getting harder and harder to do. Darrell.... you need to get yourself some ole maps and start doing some field hunting.

Nice finds Derrell, I just dug my first "play money" in January, I thought something was wrong with me it seems that so many were digging them and I wasn't  Keep em coming glad to see your posts.

Nice hunt. Canadian dime is definately fairly high % silver (last silver year I think). Play money - GOTCHA'. LOL
Had that happen myself a couple times - the weight gives it away but your still hoping!
