MIxed Bag Mystery Metal As Dig Would say

Well today was different after hunting this morning and finding only clad for $1.00 plus went to Reilly's to swap scoop as old one cracked at weld and the good folks at RZeilly's replace at no cost thanks went o beach on way home and found a little change and a sharks tooth and some sea glass. The one object I am most interested in appears to be a dagger blad that got hot on the other end. Anyone out there know anything about this thing. I tried to get as good a shot as possible. Known wreck site not too far down the beach this one was in wet sand Thanks for the help and looking.

First, glad you got your scoop replaced for free. And as far as shark's teeth, I love finding those. But about the one that appears to be a dagger blade, it looks like lead in the photo and there's even a little section that looks like it could have been the eye of a fishing weight. I'm guessing it maybe could have been that and was pounded into the shape you found. Have you checked to see if it's lead? That would be a good indicator maybe. Then again, maybe it is what's left of a dagger or some sort of blade. Anyway, interesting hunt and the beach glass is nice to find.

I put a magnet to it and it did not stick. I took a pair of pliers and knocked the end off that looked like it was melted and it had an odor of burned oil to it. I am not sure if this is Lead. It was black inside and does look like it has a solid core. I really do not know what this thing is. I know lead would not be magnetic but I have never heared of this odor in lead. I have seen this in steel when encased and broken open though. Any help is appreciated.
