Hey Hey! The ground here in Iowa is still frozen, so my bud Lud and i headed down to missouri for some detecting. You should check out our only hunt here in Iowa this year, he found the holy grail of lincoln pennies-the s vdb! Anways, today was my day-hit up a late 1800's victorian house and got denied-dude looked really afraid of us for some reason! Went cold calling on another house where we met a really nice lady who was more than willing to let us pillage her yard! The yard didn't turn up anything but new clad, so i figured going to the area between the street and sidewalk might be worth while. Boy was it ever! First hit was a sure silver, about 4 inches deep-sure enough-the rosie. About 4 feet west, another signal, this time bouncing between 58 and 83. I thought probly a pop bottle cap, but what the heck-turn out the 1918ish merc! About another 6 feet down the way i hit a copper/silver signal. Bounced fro 92 down to 66, back and forth. I figured it was worth digging just in case it was a larger silver. I dig and stick my pinpointer in and pull out what appears to be an eraser off of a no. 2 pencil-bummer. Start putting dirt back in the hole with my pinpointer, and it starts goin crazy! I saw a glint of the edge of what turned out to be a 1891 seated dime. On the way back to Iowa, we swung by a town park to find another merc-1945, and he found a standing liberty quarter. Then we were told it was illegal to hunt in that town-so we took off north. Thanks for looking and hope others are having the same success starting off this year!
