Thought I'd share the following from my friend and brother Glen Knight. It's from a recent newsletter while they have spent most of a year here going through the ritual agony of itineration. It puts so well in words how many, many of us feel but seldom talk about except among ourselves it seems....

I found out that even the short term missionary runs into these same types of waring attitudes from others even loved ones and immediate family. I can only imagine at this point how much more severe it must be for the full time or long term warriors of the cross.

Quite true. One friend of mine goes into Guatemala on short term trips to build housing, schools and churches for the poorest of the poor. He really catches it from some quarters because it's not "safe". How can someone who is a believer, who has read the Bible (especially the new testament) consider anything someone is called to safe or unsafe. Isn't it in the hands of the creator of the universe? The almighty God? This very sort of attitude is one of the symptoms of how far many in the western church have slidden. And why most world missions organizations now consider us a nation that is now a field to send missionaries to!

Imagine the flack two young men I knew caught when they were lead to minister in the middle of a civil war, to both sides, often during fire fights! But I'll share that story later...
