missing targets

what is the biggist cause of missing targets? i had hunted a small area real hard, would have bet money it was clean, went over it again, one pull tap and a rusty nail, how i missed them the first time is a mystery.

Good question, but I am not sure it can be answered. Many of the best detector operators on this forum and others have said they have gone back to places they and others have detected hard many time previously and have made greats finds. Perhaps it`s Karma.

by 100s of detectorists over dozens of years. And you will still find targets there. If they do some construction work and take away a few inches of dirt it will amaze you how many old coins remain. Long story short there still lots of coins masked by other targets; that even with a DD coil you cannot get a signal on, or perhaps only from a very narrow specific angle.
