Misc. finds around my neighborhood...

Sgt.K

New member
Lately I've been lazy about hunting too far from home and took up the invitation to detect some of my neighbors yards.

Working on the headstamp first. Might be Canadian am checking. Whay is caliber? if you don't mind. Will get back to you.

Sgt. K:
According to my headstamp expert, the headstamp appears to look like Dominion but these were quite rare in the US, especially the rimfires. Unless it was one much newer as Dominion made some rifire cartridges right up until the 1940's.

The Dominion Cartridge Company, started at Brownsburg, Quebec (just east of Montreal) in 1886 by Captain A. L. ("Gat") Howard, who introduced the Gatling gun into Canada and operated a battery of two of the new weapons during the Canadian Riel Rebellion.

In 1910 five explosives companies including Dominion Cartridge merged together to form Canadian Explosives.

So your casing is not Civil War but rare because of headstamp could have been manufactured from 1886 up to the 1940s. Firing pin suggests a revolver. Sorry can't give you more than that.

BTW, thanks for answering my PM so quickly. Hope this information helps.
