Question about Minie Balls ...
Naturally, they were used by both sides North and South during the Civil War.
How much were they still being used, after the war ended? Into the 1870s, 1880s, 1890s, later? Hunting, personal protection, law enforcement?
Didn't guys have their weapons and some bullets after the war ended? When did those rifles and bullets become "old-fashioned and obsolete", and replaced by more modern ones?
Same question, different words: We had some CW skirmishes, no "big" battles, around here (Jacksonville, Florida). If I find a Minie Ball, do I have to assume it was from the Civil War?
All ideas are welcome.
Cheers,
Joe
