Mineralized Ground

I have yet to understand about mineralized ground.
How can I find out about mineralized ground; how much or little the ground matrix is?
I do not mean ground balancing.
Living in Eastern Idaho, I have no idea what type of soil I have been in while hunting, I would like to check it out.
Thanks,
Val

Go to your nearest community college, or regular college for that matter, and ask the geology prof. or someone who teaches geology what the local mineral composition. I guessing that you probably have either a lot of flood basalt, or if you live a little closer to the Rockies, a granitic composition that is usually made of Feldspar and other minerals in that family. Your local colleges will be able to answer that for you. Maybe even a county extention agency. They will possibly know for gardening purposes. Best of luck!
