Mineralization Bar

What exactly does the mineralization "bar" do?

The way I understand it is that the bar graph shows the current "ground reading" between the upper right number and the lower right number is where GB is "set" manually or otherwise. So, for instance if you've set your GB manually to "85", and the upper right number reads "90" (like you've just turned on the machine)...and then you put the coil to the ground. Let's say that half of the bar graph gets shaded...my understanding is that what you're seeing is the real-time GB reading from the coil...and if half of the bar gets shaded then your "ground reading" is between 87-88. When you toggle into the MENU selection and sweep the coil, the bar graph is replaced by a number at the upper right of the screen, and is in real-time...

Is this correct? Or does a half-shaded bar graph simply indicate "moderate mineralization"? Because after swinging the coil a couple times after you get it settled with your hunting area, the bar gradually dissipates and the upper right number and your set GB number become closer together - which in my understanding stabilizes the machine. Most of the time while hunting the park my upper right number will be between 84-86, and I have Manual GB set at 85. I was under the impression that a lower GB number corresponds to more mineralized ground, in which 85 is on the mild side as far as soils go....

Is this right or do I have it wrong?

I think the bar is more of an indicator of how "heavy" or saturated the ground may be with mineralization
as I've had 87 GB with no mineralization bar showing and also with the bar over half full with the
same 87 ....
Good question tho....

I think CO is correct. The bar just indicates the relative strength of the mineralization...regardless of what type of mineralization it is. Now on the other hand, I believe the ground mineralization index # (the top #) will clue you into the type of mineralization. Pure iron mineralization would give you a number of "90". But usually mineralization is a combination of both iron and other metal salts. So as the salt content increases, the ground mineralization index will drop. That's why if you go to the beach (lots of salt) the number will be a lot lower. That's how I understand it anyway.

Ground phase reading is the number,,the graph shows mineralization levels...you see that graph go 2/3 or more full,,,depth will start to suffer,,,,and with higher mineral levels,,Deus may call some deeper nonferrous iron.. Deus does work better than most in bad ground for Vlf,,,meaning it will at deeper depths in the real bad ground,, continue to call nonferrous targets, nonferrous-- but remember this is all you will know about the target.

Better though than calling say a 7" quarter a nail-- like a lot of others detectors will do in higher minerals soil.
