Minelab's sensational new metal detector in latest Searcher mag

I see no evidence of introducing a new machine on the detectival site.
Minelab could just as easily be referring to the GPZ or their new gold machine.
After all , the Gold Monster 1000 is only 4 months old.

Oh please...

Could this be Minelab's new details of detector from a patent.

Minelab’s new patent. A detector with magnetic field
Minelab has concluded the registration of a patent in which a metal detector with magnetic field generator is described. The patent promises a revolution in the field of metal detector discrimination. So let’s wait for the new product 2018, shall we?

They started in 2014, obtained the patent in 2016, and… probably in the next 2 years or so, we’ll see the result. This is how metal detectors of the future are created. The NEW 2018 category is open. All about Minelab is collected here.

not sure about patents, but they sure are masters of marketing trying to lock up peoples detector spending funds for as long as they can and all it could be is a go find MK2 well done minelab kickin it again in 2017.

I will pass until such time as Minelab can repair a machine that is out of warranty in less than one to two months.

"Minelab's new patent. A detector with magnetic field".

That's what current VLF Induction Balance detectors do. They transmit a magnetic field into the ground through the transmitting portion of the coil. If metal is within that magnetic field, it causes a distortion or imbalance in that magnetic field. That imbalance, or secondary magnetic field is picked up by the receiving portion of the coil, analyzed and an audio, and/or visual ID is given. That basic process hasn't changed, or been improved greatly in the last 20+ yrs. Increases in depth have been mostly due to coil improvements.

If Minelab has improved that process by sending/driving that magnetic field deeper, it may be worthwhile. If they have improved the ability to more accurately analyze/ID those deeper return signals it may be worthwhile. At this point that remains to be seen. I'll keep an open mind, but I'm not going to let it keep me awake at night at this point. A patent is just a first step in securing the sole rights to any technology, or invention. Only a small percentage of patents come to fruition in marketable product.

I hope a breakthrough in detecting ability comes from it. Time will tell??? I personally have felt that improvements in the PI (Pulse Induction) realm would be the path to better detectors. The ability to accurately discriminate/ID is the direction I thought things would take?

" A detector with magnetic field" in of itself is nothing new.

$15,000 euros.

Answers a couple questions. It is new detector, it is not the Gold Monster 1000....

Minelab to unveil new metal detector at Detectival UK Rally 2017

We are very excited to announce that our newest metal detector will be unveiled at Detectival UK Rally on Sep 16th, 2017. Detectival will be held from the 15th to the 17th of September on 1,000 acres of undetected land close to the medieval market towns of Burford and Charlbury, approximately two hours outside of London.

This event, proudly sponsored by Minelab, will also be a great opportunity to learn more about our new technology, meet with Minelab staff for product demonstations and participate in token hunts with other metal detecting enthusiasts from across the globe! Best of all, all proceeds from the event raffle will be given to two charities: Asthma UK and the Lullaby Trust.
