Minelab's SE & E-trac Processors

The E-trac has a faster processor (48MHZ I believe) than the SE (speed unk). My question is with all the computer chips (micro processors) that are available (many in the GigaHZ) is there a reason for a slow processor? And if a faster processor was used would it change the swing speed an operator could swing the detectors? What effect would a faster processor have? GUESS I JUST HAVE TO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS---BUT WAS CURIOUS. Mack
