Minelab's New "Dual Coil" - 6" and 11" in one!

Well ok - I lied.

BUT - How about a two size in one switchable coil. Flip a switch for 6" OR 11".

Is this impossible or just a conflict "of profits" for the manufactures? Seems like a no brainier on the consumer end.

Any thoughts?

Jason

A coil within a coil hmmm, not a bad idea. Weight might be added but should be manageable cause your only adding a small loop.

I wonder if the two coils would conflict with each others transmission, you know like getting too close to a fence post.

Good point Coondog.... Switching coils on most detectors seem cumbersome. Would then be great to have a detector who's coil is switchable at the base somehow and uses the same transition wire. (and be secure and waterproof!)

Wouldn't it be great to just "click" on and off to switch a coil?!

I know when I hit a park there are always those sections that are more trashy than others areas. And some times you want to switch it up some and venture between both. New to the hobby and just sorta surprised this isn't already a reality. 😊

Loving the hunts.....

I used this type of coil on a few Garrett BFO's back in the early 70's. If I recall, there was a 5 inch coil inside the 12. And maybe a 3 inch coil inside the 8.

Good idea

I have recently thought of the same thing. Maybe switchable in the menu somewhere.

Workable for a concentric design, but I don't see how it would work with a DD design. Maybe with manual switches on the coil to switch off anf on the intesects.

n/t
