I've been saying minelab advertising their new detector the CTX 3030 on the history Channel, but for the last week I've been seeing them advertise the new e- track commercial and it looks like to me there are showing the coil to have FBS-2 technology..... Is this true?????
Interesting... Maybe that's why they just announced they are discontinuing the CTX-3030 Starter Pack. Now they can upgrade the E to FBS-2 and raise the price without coming too close to the price of the 3030.
When you think about it, upgrading a Minelab Etrac might not be that difficult for Minelab to do.
Minelab Etracs are built to connect to a home computer. I think Minelab did that because they were looking to, at some time in the future, download Etrac updates from the Internet to the Etracs.
That said, if Minelab is planning on making a change to the Etrac, all a person would have to do to make the change would be connect the Etrac to a computer, download the update, and away you go. New, updated Etrac with the ability to handle a new type of search coil.

Now that would be a very attractive feature and it would make sense that Minelab would head in that direction. Many of the high end detector companies offer that feature now and Minelab is already behind when it comes to that technology.
As a potential E-Trac user, this really leaves me in a quandary because I an hesitant to purchase a machine which will be upgraded soon. I wish that Minelab would publish something internationally soon!
It would be to their advantage if they allowed the E-trac to level the playing field on FBS2 technology. I know I would personally upgrade my coils if it is something as simple as a software fix.

i really seems unlikely that Minelab would be generous in the sense to upgrade an FBS machine to FBS2 thru just a software upgrade. That'd be like leaving money on the table.
